Ethiopia gains international recognition for health sector capacity

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) said Ethiopia's built capacity in the pharmaceutical and hospital sectors has received recognition from the World Medicines Regulatory Agency.

The Prime Minister told the House of Peoples' Representatives that domestic medicine production capacity has risen from 4 percent to between 44 and 45 percent.

Several medical institutions have been inaugurated in Addis Ababa in recent months, with additional facilities scheduled to begin service in the coming months.

For malaria prevention, nearly 3 million homes have been sprayed with anti-malaria chemicals, and vaccination has been administered for the first time in 58 woredas.
