Ethiopia's IMD reveals over 50,000 cyberattack probes in 9 months

Ethiopia's Information Network Security Administration (IMDA) has uncovered over 50,000 cyberattack investigations in nine months of the 2018 fiscal year. Director General Te'gist Hamid announced this during the agency's performance review. The efforts support national digital security goals.

In Addis Ababa on Miyazya 21, 2018 (E.C.), IMDA Director General W/ro Te'gist Hamid stated that the agency uncovered over 50,000 cyberattack investigations during the first nine months of the 2018 fiscal year. This was revealed at the agency's performance review meeting.

The administration detected attacks targeting key national infrastructures and institutions through 24-hour monitoring, fully neutralizing 99% of them. These achievements advance the "Digital Ethiopia 2030" strategic vision, ensure national security, and position Ethiopia as a future global leader in cybersecurity.

IMDA conducted rapid operational responses to detect, defend against, and respond to cyber threats. The agency emphasized developing and deploying local technologies to enhance Ethiopia's digital resilience and reduce foreign dependencies.
