FIFA recently unveiled merchandise celebrating Seattle as one of 16 host cities for the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The collection includes hats, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and posters, predominantly in purple with gold, white, and blue accents. Many items feature the text “We Are Seattle” and “26 FIFA Seattle.” Prices start at $45 for hats, $50 for shirts, and $100 for hoodies, with youth sizes slightly cheaper. Additional affordable options include basic t-shirts, posters, and magnets, available through FIFA’s online catalog.
Seattle is set to host six matches at Lumen Field, including two knockout stage games, beginning with a Group G stage match on June 15, 2026. The tournament runs from June 2026, drawing large crowds to the region.
In related preparations, the Washington State Transportation Commission is evaluating temporary toll hikes on the SR 99 tunnel to handle increased traffic from hundreds of thousands of visitors. Proposed increases of 50 cents or $1.00 would apply 24/7 from June 1 to July 15, 2026, for six weeks. Current Good to Go! rates for two-axle vehicles range from $1.25 to $2.80, and the hike aims to manage congestion and fund maintenance.
One commission member described the idea as a “slippery slope” for event-based tolls. “The World Cup is a uniquely large event,” said Deputy Director Carl See. “It does not necessarily portend to, if this, then necessarily we do it for other activities.” Officials encourage using transit, walking, or biking to matches. A decision is expected in December, followed by public input in early 2026.
