Ford and Geely announced today a joint venture to operate the Almussafes factory in Valencia from 2027. The alliance aims to increase plant utilization and produce five models from late 2028.
The new company will have an approximate 60 % stake for Ford and 40 % for Geely, although one source indicates 66 % and 34 %. The current 4,142 workers will join the joint venture, which will also receive the industrial assets and land.
From 2028 the plant will assemble Ford’s Kuga and a Bronco derivative, a multi-energy crossover and two Geely electric SUVs. Executives Jim Baumbick and Victor Young stressed the goal of operating as “one team” to maximize efficiency.
In the first half of 2026 Geely registered 225,350 vehicles in Europe compared with Ford’s 192,373. The deal aligns with Ford’s alliance strategy and Geely’s growth on the continent.
