Jordan Devey, a former NFL offensive lineman who won Super Bowl XLIX with the New England Patriots, has died at the age of 38. A GoFundMe page set up for his family states that he died by suicide. His family has suggested he may have suffered from CTE but cannot confirm it.
Devey began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013 after playing at Memphis. He joined the Patriots' practice squad later that year and appeared in seven games during the 2014 season, contributing to their Super Bowl victory.
He spent the most time on the field with the San Francisco 49ers in 2015, starting nine of 15 games. Devey later played three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2016 to 2018, followed by stints with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2019 and the Buffalo Bills in 2020. He finished with 44 regular-season games and 21 starts across five teams.
Devey's wife, Lindsay, posted on Instagram marking what would have been their 15th wedding anniversary. She described their shared memories and four children while expressing the family's grief. Devey's mother, Leslie, told Fox 13 in Salt Lake City that the family believes he possibly suffered from CTE, though testing is not possible due to the circumstances of his death.
