Detectives from the DCI have arrested four suspects linked to a series of armed robberies in Mombasa, Nairobi, and Kilifi counties. The suspects are also under investigation for the murder of Scottish businessman Campbell Scott. A court has allowed their detention for 14 days.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested Bernard Mbusu, Isaac Kinoti Kobia, Evan Muthengi Mutaki, and Kelvin Mwangi Njoroge at Deal Apartments in Ukunda, Kwale County, on April 11, 2026, at around 3:15 a.m. They were taken to Nyali police station.
The suspects are linked to an armed robbery reported at Nyali (OB 58/4/9/2026), Watamu in Kilifi (OB 45/2/13/2026), and a murder reported at Parklands in Nairobi (OB 14/2/17/2026). Sergeant Fredrick Ochido told the Shanzu Court that more time is needed for analysis of phones, bank statements, and M-Pesa records.
The court permitted their detention for 14 days at Nyali and Kadzandani stations. The search yielded an HP computer, phones, foreign currency, bank cards, chequebooks, and POS machines.
Campbell Scott disappeared in Nairobi in February 2025 while staying in Westlands. His body was found in a gunny bag in Mukuyuni along the Machakos-Wote road. DCI stated the operation involved the Crime Research and Intelligence unit alongside Nyali and Msambweni officers.
