Police in Durban conducted an operation in Bellair, where they shot and fatally wounded four suspects in a hideout. The suspects were wanted for business robberies, house robberies, and kidnapping, according to SABC News reporting from March 23, 2026. KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda stated that officers tracked the suspects after spotting their vehicle. When police attempted to stop them, the suspects fled to the house believed to be their hideout, leading to a shootout. Two suspects were shot inside the house, one behind the house, and one in the bushes nearby. Netshiunda said: “Their vehicle was spotted, when police tried to stop them, the suspects fled, and they came to this house behind me, which is their hide-out spot where during the operation there was a shootout, they were shot and fatally wounded, two of the suspects were shot in the house, one behind the house and one in the bushes behind the houses.” Four firearms were recovered at the scene.
