The German national football team landed in Chicago on Tuesday afternoon local time. The squad is preparing for the 2026 World Cup.
After an eight-hour flight from Frankfurt the squad under coach Julian Nagelsmann touched down at O’Hare International Airport. Air traffic controllers welcomed the team with the words “Welcome to the German team”.
The players are staying at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in downtown Chicago. The first training session is scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. local time on the grounds of Chicago Fire.
The final warm-up match takes place on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. MESZ against co-host USA at Soldier Field. On Monday the team moves to its World Cup hotel in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
In Group E Germany faces Curaçao, Côte d’Ivoire and Ecuador. The tournament opener is set for 14 June in Houston.
