GLOW region advances five individuals and four relays to NYSPHSAA indoor track championships

Athletes from the GLOW region performed strongly at the Section V Indoor Track and Field Qualifier meet held at Nazareth University in Rochester. Five individuals and four relay teams qualified for the NYSPHSAA Championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Batavia and Bath-Haverling were among the schools advancing multiple competitors.

The Section V New York State Public High School Athletic Association Indoor Track and Field Qualifier took place on Saturday night at Nazareth University in Rochester. Top performers from across Section V competed, with athletes from the GLOW region securing spots in the upcoming state championships.

In individual events, Batavia's Madeline Smith qualified in the 55-meter hurdles. Karvel Martino and Brock Bigsby from Batavia swept the throwing events, earning advancement. Tim Lamparelli also progressed in the shot put, while Zachary Hartz from Batavia qualified in the 600-meter run.

Relay teams showed particular strength for the GLOW region. Batavia's boys 4x800-meter relay team finished second to advance. The school also sent two girls' relay teams to states, contributing to the total of four qualifying relays.
