The Finance Ministry vowed Monday to accelerate adoption of artificial intelligence technologies and revamp regulations in the service sector.
Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol discussed the measures with relevant ministries at a meeting held at a hotel in Seoul.
The service industry accounts for 60 percent of the country’s gross domestic product. “Currently, the service industry is facing a major transformation driven by AI,” Koo said.
The government plans to prepare measures allowing AI agents to be tested throughout the entire shopping process to secure an early foothold in the AI agentic commerce market. It will also support new mobility services such as urban air mobility and AI-based autonomous driving, and apply AI technologies to public services including tax payment and administrative services.
