The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Roman Wilson in the third round in 2024. Injuries sidelined him for much of his rookie year, and despite opportunities in 2025 following George Pickens' departure, he struggled to secure consistent snaps. Wilson appeared in 14 career games, recording 12 receptions for 166 yards and two touchdowns, mostly in garbage time. His production faded late in 2025, particularly after failing to sync with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who is expected to return in 2026. Kaboly noted on 93.7 The Fan, “I think he’ll get the opportunity. It doesn’t mean he’s gonna keep the opportunity.” He praised Bernard as “the real deal” who can contribute immediately with strong routes, high football IQ, and yards after catch—skills a 42-year-old Rodgers would value. Wilson's college traits were similar, but he has yet to translate them to the NFL. The Steelers' receiver room now features locks like DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr., and Bernard, plus Ben Skowronek for special teams, return specialist Kaden Wetjen, and seventh-round pick Eli Heidenreich. Offseason workouts and training camp will be crucial for Wilson to build chemistry with Rodgers and stand out.
