Pop-punk band Koyo has unveiled 'Irreversible,' the lead single from their upcoming second album 'Barely Here,' set for release on May 8. The track highlights the band's signature edgy riffs and intense vocals. Emerging from Long Island, Koyo built their reputation with a successful debut in 2023.
Koyo, one of the rising stars in pop-punk, has released 'Irreversible' as the first taste of their sophomore effort, 'Barely Here.' The song captures the band's strengths with sharp guitar work and a fast-paced rhythm supporting vocals that alternate between high energy and raw edge. This release serves as a strong preview of the full album, scheduled to drop on May 8.
The band, hailing from a Long Island basement scene, gained international attention with their 2023 debut album 'Would You Miss It?,' which led to extensive global touring. During those travels, Koyo began crafting 'Barely Here,' drawing inspiration from the high of live performances. Songs were demoed in their tour RV amid late-night drives between shows, embodying a quintessential punk ethos.
Vocalist Joseph Chiaramonte explained the album's approach: “A lot of bands think their second album has to be this magnum opus epic that sews so many things together, and I think we actually took more of that approach with our first LP. So with ‘Barely Here’ we wanted to do the opposite of that trajectory—We wanted to refine our strengths instead of doing this purposeful departure. It’s a snapshot of what our band is in its most no-frills, perfected form.”
Produced, engineered, and mixed by Jon Markson—known for work with acts like Drug Church, Drain, and The Story So Far—'Barely Here' clocks in at 10 tracks over 28 minutes, delivering concise punk energy. The single has already garnered nearly 400,000 views in its first week, signaling strong fan interest ahead of the album's arrival.
