Lime Cordiale launches off-grid music festival in Australia

Australian band Lime Cordiale has announced Lime Green Festival, a pioneering 100% off-grid event focused on climate action. The festival, created by band members Oli and Louis Leimbach, will take place on April 18, 2026, at Adelaide's Point Malcolm Reserve. It aims to blend music with environmental sustainability through renewable energy and regenerative practices.

Lime Cordiale's Oli and Louis Leimbach are spearheading Lime Green Festival, described as a 'bold experiment' in reimagining live music with environmental priorities at its core. Partnering with Chugg Music, the event commits to minimizing ecological impact while offering a full day of music, culture, and community engagement.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Point Malcolm Reserve in Adelaide, South Australia, the festival will be powered entirely off-grid, using renewable stage power and sustainable approaches to transport, food, and waste management. Lime Cordiale will headline, joined by indie-folk group The Dreggs, pop singer-songwriter aleksiah, and emerging local band PASH.

To champion local talent, the lineup includes spots for additional artists: one selected by Lime Cordiale, another through triple j's Unearthed program, and a third chosen by sponsor City of Charles Sturt. Beyond performances, attendees can participate in talks, interactive workshops, and activations highlighting regenerative movement leaders from community and business sectors.

Oli and Louis Leimbach shared their motivations in a statement: 'From the accelerating loss of polar ice to the devastating algal blooms currently choking the South Australian coast, it is impossible to ignore that our climate is at a breaking point. For the last five years, we've wrestled with a deep, personal dilemma as environmentalists: Is our touring contributing to the problem? Does it still make sense in a world that's hurting? Should we continue to tour at all?'

They continued: 'We've decided that the answer isn't to stop, but to change. Live music is about the vital connection between people, and we believe that connection is exactly what we need to fuel a new way of doing things. Our aim is to stage the greenest music festival Australia has ever seen – rethinking everything from renewable stage power and transport to how we handle food and human waste.'

The brothers envision the festival as a scalable model for regional South Australia and beyond, encouraging audiences to engage with and imagine regenerative live events. Tickets go on presale at 9am AEDT on January 21, 2026, with general sales starting January 23 at 9am AEDT.
