Grammy-winning artist Lizzo has revealed details of her upcoming third studio album, titled ‘Bitch’, set for release on June 5. The title track single and accompanying video will drop on May 1. This marks her first project since the 2022 album ‘Special’.
Lizzo announced the title and release date of her new album ‘Bitch’ along with the title track single and video. The full album arrives June 5, with pre-orders now available. The lead single premieres Friday, May 1, at 12am ET, or 5am BST, interpolating Meredith Brooks’ 1997 hit of the same name. The title nods to Lizzo’s 2019 breakthrough track ‘Truth Hurts’, where she declared: “I’m 100 per cent that bitch” from ‘Truth Hurts’ where she declared: “I’m 100 per cent that bitch”.” “Reclaiming the word is power,” Lizzo said in a press release. “It’s taking a label once used to diminish women and turning it into a declaration of confidence, and unapologetic self-love.” She added that artists like Meredith Brooks and Missy Elliott have used the word positively, making it fitting for her album: “It has become my favourite word when using it on my own terms and because I am 100 per cent that bitch!” This will be Lizzo’s first release since ‘Special’ in 2022. The album follows her Grammy and Emmy wins, continuing her streak of self-empowering music.
