South African singer Tyla has revealed the title and release date for her sophomore album, A*Pop, due out on July 24 via Epic Records. She shared a trailer describing the project as 'African,' 'Unapologetic,' 'Confident,' and 'Global.' The album follows hits like 'Chanel' and her collaboration 'She Did It Again' with Zara Larsson.
Tyla unveiled the announcement on Wednesday with a trailer teasing her new era. The video highlights the album's bold identity, positioning it as a fresh evolution from her 2024 self-titled debut. That record earned her two Grammy Awards: the first in 2024 for Best African Music Performance with 'Water,' and a second last year for 'Push 2 Start' from the deluxe edition Tyla+ (2025 also saw her release the EP WWP and collaborations with Ayra Starr, Sean Paul, and Wizkid). She has four nominations at the upcoming American Music Awards in May, including Best Female R&B Artist, Best Afrobeats Artist, and nods for 'Chanel' in Social Song of the Year and Best Music Video. Tyla discussed the new album in a February Rolling Stone interview, reflecting on her growth. 'I feel like the first album, it was very hectic, it was a rush. It was like, all of a sudden, overnight craziness,' she said. 'So now that I’m settled in, I feel like I know more about my direction and what I want to do, what I want to say.' She added, 'I just knew that as I lived through the making of the album, it was going to fall into place, which it did. I feel like I just did something really fresh and so Tyla.' A*Pop will feature the amapiano single 'Chanel' and the dancehall track 'She Did It Again' with Zara Larsson, though a full tracklist remains unreleased.
