Luxury yacht seized by Swedish police linked to Russia

A luxury yacht suspected of having a Russian owner has been seized by police. The vessel is believed to have been financed with proceeds from criminal activity.

The luxury yacht was seized during the night leading into Wednesday. The Coast Guard towed the boat away on Thursday according to the local newspaper Nu 7Dagar Bjäre. Police state there are no suspicions of crimes committed on board or involvement of narcotics. The seizure was carried out under the law on independent forfeiture without anyone being notified of suspected crime. According to SVT the boat has a Russian owner and police suspect it was purchased with criminal proceeds. The yacht has been docked year-round for several years and similar models sell for around ten million kronor.
