A man was violently attacked with a machete in the La Morena hamlet of La Plata municipality in western Huila. The incident took place on Saturday night and authorities are investigating the homicide.
The victim's body was found with multiple open wounds beside the road leading toward El Pital. Peasants and passersby alerted the police station after spotting the person lying at the scene.
The identity of the deceased remains unknown, though he is reported to have a tattoo on one arm. Due to the presence of illegal armed groups, the criminalistics team did not attend the site.
A local funeral home transported the body to the urban area of the municipality. Officers from the Huila Police Department are collecting testimonies and evidence to clarify the circumstances of the incident and identify the perpetrator.
