A 22-year-old mother, Blayin Guevara Sánchez, was stabbed to death by her ex-partner in rural Pitalito, Huila. The incident, which occurred last Sunday, marks the second femicide of the year in the department. Authorities are searching for the alleged perpetrator, Herminso Zapata Legos.
Blayin Guevara Sánchez, 22, from Caquetá, died on Sunday at 3:20 p.m. in vereda La Esmeralda, Bruselas corregimiento, Pitalito municipality. Preliminary information from authorities indicates she was stabbed allegedly by her ex-partner, Herminso Zapata Legos from Norcasia, Caquetá, after she refused to resume the relationship.
Neighbors alerted emergency services after hearing her screams. Guevara was taken to the Bruselas health center and then to Hospital Departamental San Antonio de Pitalito, where she succumbed to her injuries. The crime orphans a seven-year-old boy and a four-month-old baby.
Victim's relative Elisabeth Canchón posted on social media: “We demand justice. My cousin Blayin Guevara Sánchez [...] brutally murdered by Herminso Zapata Legos [...]. No more femicides! We demand justice for her and her children”.
Lieutenant Colonel Andrés Ávila, Huila Police subcommander, condemned the act and announced investigations with Judicial Police, Intelligence, and the Attorney General's Office. “The National Police deeply regrets the homicide [...] investigations are underway [...] to locate the perpetrator”, Ávila stated, urging tips to 123.
This is the second femicide in Huila in 2026, following Angie Carolina Rivera's on January 12 in Garzón.
