President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured the public on Wednesday, April 8, that he is healthy, even quipping about his struggle to maintain his weight. The statement addresses persistent social media speculation following his January hospitalization for diverticulitis.
In Manila, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. stated he has returned to his regular routine over the past three months. “I’m struggling kasi ayoko tumaba ulit, nawala na 'yung taba ko, parang babalik,” Marcos said, translating to: “I’m struggling because I do not want to gain weight again, I already lost the fat, but now it seems like it’s coming back.”
He thanked those expressing concern but advised the public not to take social media seriously. The Palace has repeatedly dismissed the online speculation about the president’s health.
In January 2026, Marcos was diagnosed with diverticulitis, leading to hospitalization and withdrawal from several public events. Rumors have persisted on social media ever since.
No further health issues have been officially reported.
