A 70-year-old Hopkinton man faces multiple charges after allegedly attempting to drown a 21-year-old man using crutches at a local boat ramp. The incident occurred on June 3 and was captured on video. Steven Dana remains in custody ahead of his scheduled arraignment.
Steven Dana was arrested on Wednesday evening after police responded to a reported fight at a restricted boat ramp in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Authorities said Dana confronted Matt Duffy and his friends over their use of jet skis at the residents-only location. Cellphone footage recorded by one of Duffy's companions shows Dana slapping the younger man before tackling him and holding his head underwater. Duffy, who was on crutches following a recent motorcycle crash, told WBZ he could not defend himself and feared for his safety until friends intervened. Dana faces charges of attempted murder, two counts of strangulation or suffocation, and assault and battery on a disabled person. He was held without bail at the Hopkinton Police Department as of Thursday and is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
