Mickaël Pecaud shares breakdance passion in Clermont-Ferrand

At 38, former breakdance champion Mickaël Pecaud leads the Supreme Legacy collective, promoting hip-hop culture in Auvergne through classes and shows. Father of two, he discovered the discipline at 14 during a cypher, drawn by its energy and freedom. He now emphasizes the sharing and conviviality inherent in this culture.

Mickaël Pecaud, an iconic figure in breakdance in Clermont-Ferrand, built a career highlighted by numerous national and international titles, both individually and in teams. At 38 and father of two children, he ended his competitive participation several years ago to focus on passing on hip-hop culture.

As director and choreographer of the Supreme Legacy collective, based in Clermont-Ferrand, Pecaud organizes classes, shows, and festivals across Auvergne and beyond. This project fits into the « Faiseurs de culture » series and aims to spread the values of sharing and conviviality at the heart of hip-hop culture.

His personal commitment dates back to his teenage years. On vacation with his parents at 14, he witnessed a « cypher », a circle where dancers take turns in breakdance. « I saw what is called a “cypher”, that is, a circle within which one dances break. The atmosphere, the energy, and the freedom in the movements appealed to me right away », he recounts.

Despite a busy schedule in February, with artist residencies and performances, Pecaud remains approachable and passionate. His Supreme Legacy initiative strengthens the presence of urban cultures in the region, providing a space for expression and learning for hip-hop enthusiasts.
