Taylor Santiago, a 31-year-old mother from Aurora, Missouri, was sentenced to life without parole plus 40 years in Arkansas on Monday for capital murder and attempted capital murder. The sentence follows her earlier life term in Missouri for killing one of her children's fathers. The attacks in January 2025 targeted the fathers of her two children and one of their partners.
Taylor Santiago pleaded guilty in Arkansas for ambushing Nathan Green and his girlfriend Sophia Williams at their Carroll County residence. Williams died from a gunshot wound to the head during the attack, which occurred in front of their child. Santiago had driven Huffman's Mercedes about 55 miles from Missouri to carry out the shooting before fleeing back across state lines, according to prosecutors. Authorities extradited her to face charges there. Her Arkansas sentence will run consecutively with the life term she received in Missouri for murdering her ex-husband, Troy Huffman, in Aurora. Court records detail how the slayings unfolded over hours in January 2025, with Santiago killing Huffman first at her apartment. She confessed to police, calling herself a 'disgusting, evil murderer' and stating that 'death or jail forever' was appropriate punishment. Aurora Police Chief Wes Coatney linked the motive to custody disputes between Santiago and the victims. 'I wish she would've come to us before she did all of this so we could've helped her,' Coatney said. After shooting Huffman, Santiago told their son she would 'take care of the bad guys' and had him cover his ears before firing a .38 revolver. She then called 911 from the Aurora Police and Fire Facility parking lot around 2 a.m., leading to her immediate arrest.
