Monica Raymund departed Chicago Fire after six seasons as paramedic Gabby Dawson. She cited a desire to pursue new roles and relocate from Chicago.
The actress, who joined the NBC series at its 2012 premiere, told the Chicago Tribune that her six-year contract was ending. She said she felt ready to explore different stories and worlds beyond the show. Raymund also noted personal reasons for the move. After five years in Chicago, she wanted to establish roots in Los Angeles. Showrunner Derek Haas initially believed her exit announcement was a contract negotiation. Gabby Dawson's storyline concluded with a move to Puerto Rico at the end of season 6. Raymund has since appeared in guest roles during seasons 7 and 8. She later starred in the Starz series Hightown and directed episodes of FBI, Dexter: Resurrection, and Boston Blue.
