Pertamina ensures fuel supply safety amid Semarang-Demak floods

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has assured that fuel (BBM) and LPG supplies in flood-hit Semarang-Demak areas remain safe, including regular checks for water contamination at gas stations. Local residents complain of over a week's flooding causing skin irritation and insufficient aid. The floods began on October 21, 2025, affecting homes and traffic.

Flooding in the coastal areas of Semarang City and Demak Regency, Central Java, has persisted for over a week since Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Water levels reach adult thigh height in Kampung Tanggungrejo, Tambakrejo Ward, Gayamsari Subdistrict, and about 70 centimeters in Genuksari Ward. Residents like Winda from RT1/RW5 Tanggungrejo report flooding entering homes for nine days, causing itchy skin on legs from murky water. "It's been nine days of flooding. Since Tuesday (21/10/2025), water has entered the house," said Winda.

Aid received by residents remains limited. Sri Priyantini complained of getting only one rice pack and one kilogram of rice initially, despite nearly two weeks of flooding. "At first, we got one rice pack and one kilogram of rice, after that nothing. Almost two weeks. It's like this every year," she said. Meanwhile, Siti in Genuksari rejected a single rice pack aid for her family of five on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, as it was insufficient. Many residents did not evacuate due to lack of shelters and relied on instant noodles.

Amid floods reaching 80-90 centimeters on Pantura Road Semarang-Demak (Kaligawe-Sayung stretch), six gas stations were affected but continued operating. Area Manager for Communication, Relations, & CSR at Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Central Java and DI Yogyakarta, Taufiq Kurniawan, stated that BBM and LPG supplies are safe. "The supply of BBM and LPG is in safe condition," he revealed on Thursday, October 30, 2025. The company conducts contamination checks every morning, noon, and night, with no findings. To address traffic diversions, supplies to alternative route stations like Semarang-Mranggen were increased by 10-15 percent, though close station spacing prevented major disruptions. LPG supplies are also secured without shortages, and residents are advised to purchase from nearby depots.
