The Supreme Tribunal of the Party of the People annulled the April 25 internal elections due to administrative inconsistencies and ordered the process repeated under stricter standards. Lista B, which had won 592 votes to 78, rejected the ruling and announced it will appeal.

The PDG Supreme Tribunal declared the April 25 electoral process invalid due to incomplete records, discrepancies between votes and signatures, lack of documentary traceability and other administrative problems. The ruling, adopted by three of the five tribunal members, ordered a new election with additional control mechanisms.

Current authorities, led by president Rodrigo Vattuone and vice president Franco Parisi, will remain in their posts until the new process concludes. Lista B, headed by Patricio Quisbert, had obtained the broadest preliminary results.

Lista B issued a statement accusing a “grave institutional and legal legitimacy crisis” and questioning that the decision was made while pending disqualification requests existed. Deputy Fabián Ossandón stated that “part of the Supreme Tribunal caused enormous damage to the party”.

Patricio Quisbert described the resolution as “an attack on internal democracy” and announced that the list will seek to appeal before the Tricel or through a protection resource to defend the results expressed by the membership.
