Tesla extends Bay Area rideshare service to SFO

Tesla has expanded its Bay Area ride-hailing service to include pickups and drop-offs at San Francisco International Airport. The change allows users to request rides directly to and from the airport through the company's app. The update was shared on July 21 via Tesla's official channels.

The expansion builds on a limousine permit for SFO operations that became effective March 20, 2026, and remains active through January 31, 2027. Tesla vehicles in the service display authorized permits issued by the City and County of San Francisco.

The Bay Area service uses Model Y vehicles equipped with Full Self-Driving (Supervised) technology. Human safety drivers remain present to comply with state regulations. The geofence spans from north of San Francisco to south of San Jose.

Tesla previously expanded service to San Jose Mineta International Airport in late 2025. The company first launched its California ride-hailing program in July 2025 with an invite-only rollout in the Bay Area.

Rides are booked through Tesla's dedicated application for matching, routing, and payments. Pricing follows standard ride-hailing models based on distance, time, and demand.
