Thomas Tuchel said he made several decisions based on instinct and experience to secure a final spot. England led through Anthony Gordon before late goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez turned the match.
Tuchel noted the side became too passive after the opener and switched to a back five to counter Argentina’s attacks. He rejected claims that captain Harry Kane was positioned too deep.
The manager also highlighted fatigue from earlier knockout games, including extra time with ten men against Mexico. England face France on Saturday in Miami for third place.
