Two men arrested in Alicante for murdering woman and hiding body

National Police have arrested two men aged 38 and 41 in Alicante for the murder of a 37-year-old woman, whose body they hid for two weeks in her home. The motive appears economic, linked to the victim's recent inheritance. A witness alerted authorities after being roped into plans to dispose of the body.

Last Friday, a man went to the Alicante Provincial Police Station to report that two acquaintances had tried to involve him in disposing of a murdered woman's body, offering him money in return. According to the National Police, this testimony triggered the violent crimes protocol, with the Violent Crime Group (Homicides) taking over the investigation.

Officers went to the victim's home, where they found the body of the 37-year-old woman, possibly dead for several days. During the inspection, they discovered a knife in one of the rooms, which could be the murder weapon, as the autopsy showed signs of violence from a bladed weapon. They requested a judicial commission and Scientific Police to follow established procedures.

Meanwhile, investigators tracked the suspects to a city hotel and set up surveillance. They arrested them as they fled in a vehicle without a driving permit. In the car, they found cash, gold jewelry, and narcotics exceeding personal use amounts.

Further inquiries showed that one detainee had been in a romantic relationship with the victim for several months and that she had recently inherited a large sum of money. After the crime, the detainee used the woman's bank card. No prior gender violence complaints were filed by the victim. Police do not rule out an economic motive as the primary reason for the murder.
