Union Minister for Rural Development and Agriculture Shivraj Singh Chauhan served as the chief guest at the Janpratinidhi Sammelan, or People’s Representative Conference, held at Vivekananda Mini Stadium in Agartala on February 11, 2026. The conference marked the launch of the ‘Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin)’, known as VB–G RAM. Various rural development projects were inaugurated, and certificates were distributed to beneficiaries.
Attendees included Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and cabinet colleagues responsible for finance, higher education, industries, tourism, social welfare, and fisheries. Exhibition stalls were set up by departments such as Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, allowing interactions between visitors and officials.
In his address, Chouhan referenced Swami Vivekananda’s vision of India as a world leader, stating that this is being realized under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He described the North-East as ‘Ashtalakshmi’ and Tripura as a ‘Dhanalakshmi’ hub in rural development. Chouhan criticized the Congress and Left Front for their previous governments, claiming they merely renamed projects without meaningful progress, unlike the current efforts to guide rural development.
Chief Minister Saha emphasized the central government’s dedication to bolstering the rural economy and the importance of using funds wisely for true development. Beneficiary felicitation programs were also part of the proceedings.
