The mystery horror feature Bisikan Desa Gringsing: Whispers of Fatimah has released its first-look video and scheduled an Indonesian theatrical opening for September.
Producers Mandela Pictures and Oceanus Media Global announced the news for the film, which follows Hesti as she searches for her missing father and encounters the spirit of Fatimah in the village of Desa Gringsing.
Aghniny Haque stars as Hesti and Fatmah Nadhi portrays the spectral Fatimah. Director and writer Ivander Tedjasukmana described the project as an honor and noted the challenges of virtual production technology for the cast and crew.
The film marks one of the first Indonesian horror features to use LED volumetric stages for its environments instead of traditional location shoots. It is a co-production among Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.
With post-production nearing completion, the movie is set to open in Indonesian cinemas on Sept. 24 before releases in Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey and Azerbaijan. Producers include Manoj K. Samtani, Deepak M. Samtani and others, with support from Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority and Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture.
