Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios announced the development of an adult animated series based on the Absolute Batman comics. The project was revealed Thursday at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Scott Snyder will serve as showrunner.
The series reimagines Bruce Wayne as a working-class hero facing impossible odds without a manor or fortune. It aims to prove that one good person can change the world amid wealth, power, and corruption.
Scott Snyder, the comics writer, will act as executive producer and showrunner. Artist Nick Dragotta will also produce. The comics have sold more than 6 million copies since their 2024 release and ranked among the top 10 best-selling comics of 2025.
The animated series remains unattached to any network or streaming platform. Warner Bros. and DC Studios made additional announcements at the festival, including an anime Joker series and a kids show about Krypto the Superdog.
