Former NHL defenseman Alexander Edler has confirmed a new role with the Vancouver Canucks. The 40-year-old will work in player development, focusing on the organization's prospects.
Vancouver Canucks announced that Edler will join the club's development department. He will work closely with young talents in the organization.
General Manager Ryan Johnson highlighted Edler's experience. "Alex knows from his own experience what it means to be a Vancouver Canuck," Johnson said on the team's website.
Edler played 872 of his 925 NHL games with the Canucks. He holds franchise records among defensemen for games played, goals, assists and points. The Swedish former national team player ended his playing career with two seasons at the Los Angeles Kings.
