Amotekun transfers suspect in alleged rape of minor to police

The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has handed over a 28-year-old man accused of raping a seven-year-old girl in Ilawe Ekiti to the police for further investigation. The suspect, Olapade Ifeoluwa, was arrested after luring the child to his apartment under the pretense of watching a film. Neighbors intervened following the girl's cries, leading to the rescue and apprehension.

In Ilawe Ekiti, part of Ekiti Southwest Local Government Area, a disturbing incident unfolded when 28-year-old Olapade Ifeoluwa allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl. According to Adeleye Adewale, Head of Communications for the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps, operatives from the Ekiti Southwest Local Government Command arrested the suspect after he was accused of enticing the minor to his apartment on Ujana Street to watch a film.

During interrogation, Ifeoluwa confessed to the crime. Adewale stated in a release from Ado Ekiti on December 16, 2025: “Upon interrogation by the arresting officers... the suspect confessed to the crime committed. He said that the minor was induced to watch a film and lured to his apartment, where he precipitously had carnal knowledge of her. He later ascribed his action to the devil’s work after his apprehension.”

The victim's father reported that his daughter's cries during the assault alerted neighbors, who rushed to the scene and rescued her. Both the suspect and the girl were then transported to the Amotekun Headquarters in Ado Ekiti for initial inquiries before the handover to the Ekiti State Police Command.

This case echoes a prior incident in September 2025, where Amotekun officers in Are Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, stopped 21-year-old Ahmed Abdulai from raping a 13-year-old girl. They intercepted him in a bush using torchlights and transferred him to the Nigeria Police Rapid Response Squad.

The Amotekun Corps emphasized its ongoing collaboration with law enforcement to ensure perpetrators of such offenses receive due punishment, underscoring efforts to protect vulnerable community members in Ekiti State.
