Arthur Fils keeps injury details private ahead of Wimbledon return

Arthur Fils has returned to training at Wimbledon after a seven-week absence caused by an undisclosed injury that forced him to withdraw from Roland Garros. The French player spoke to reporters on Saturday and declined to name the issue but confirmed he feels fully fit.

Fils pulled out before his first-round match against Stan Wawrinka at Roland Garros. He has spent the time since recovering and training on the Wimbledon grass courts with coach Goran Ivanisevic.

During his press conference, Fils said he prefers to keep the injury to himself. “I can’t tell you what it was,” he stated. “Because otherwise, people talk, and it’s annoying.” He described his current condition as “100 percent” and noted that training sessions against Casper Ruud have gone well.

Fils faces Belgian qualifier Raphaël Collignon in the first round on Tuesday. His season record stands at 22-7 after reaching the Barcelona final and other strong results earlier in the year. He currently sits seventh in the Race to Turin standings.
