Baldoví rebukes Mazón for laughing during Corts plenary session

Compromís spokesperson Joan Baldoví questioned former president Carlos Mazón's laughter during Wednesday's budget debate in the Valencian Corts.

Baldoví recalled the messages Mazón sent to the Consell WhatsApp group at 8.00 on 29 October 2024, the day of the DANA. The spokesperson noted that Mazón proposed flooding the media with data to convey a sense of alert and then disappeared while 230 people died.

During the speech, cameras captured Mazón laughing as he checked his mobile phone. Baldoví asked whether Mazón would laugh in the same way in front of the victims and criticised both the PP and Vox for keeping him as a deputy and therefore as someone with legal immunity.

The incident occurred during debate on the regional budget of 33.305 million euros, which the PP and Vox approved after rejecting total amendments tabled by PSPV-PSOE and Compromís.
