Bobby Witt Jr. drove in the go-ahead run for his 400th career RBI as the Kansas City Royals rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday afternoon at Target Field.
The Royals trailed after Orlando Arcia's pinch-hit home run gave the Twins the lead in the eighth inning. Kansas City responded in the ninth with small ball, tying the score on Carter Jensen's sacrifice fly before Witt lined a splitter into left field for the winning hit. Witt, who turns 26 next week, joined an elite group as the fifth MLB player since 1920 with at least 400 RBIs and 150 stolen bases before that age. Manager Matt Quatraro praised the team's approach, noting the lineup flip created favorable matchups. Starter Luinder Avila threw five innings of one-run ball, while reliever Alex Lange earned his third save in four games by striking out Royce Lewis with the bases loaded in the ninth. Witt called it a great team win built on everyone doing their job.
