Bohra Sultan pledges to boost tourism to Egypt as Al-Sisi vows mosque support

The Sultan of the Bohra sect, Mufaddal Saifuddin, confirmed plans to increase Bohra tourists visiting Egypt, as President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi pledged the state's continued assistance for the sect's restoration of historic mosques, the Egyptian presidency said on Monday. The talks took place in Cairo, where Al-Sisi affirmed Egypt's commitment to de-escalating regional tensions.

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi welcomed Bohra Sultan Mufaddal Saifuddin along with his sons Prince Ja’far al-Sadiq Imaduddin, Prince Taha Najmuddin, and Prince Husain Burhanuddin, as well as the Sultan’s Cairo representative Mufaddal Muhammad Hasan.

Al-Sisi praised the long history of relations between Egypt and the Bohra sect, highlighting its developmental and charitable projects, as well as its role in restoring archaeological sites and the mosques and shrines of Ahl al-Bayt. He confirmed Egypt's keenness to continue developing these mosques and provide all possible assistance.

In response, Sultan Saifuddin expressed gratitude for the warm reception he consistently receives in Egypt. The spokesman noted that the Sultan reiterated the sect’s ongoing efforts to maintain and restore Ahl al-Bayt and archaeological mosques, underscoring interest in increasing cultural, recreational, and religious tourism by Bohra community members.

According to official presidency spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, Sultan Saifuddin praised Egypt's role in pushing efforts for peace, security, and stability regionally and globally.
