British tourist wanted after jumping bail in Hong Kong airport case

A Hong Kong court issued an arrest warrant for British tourist Youcef Bennoui after he failed to appear on Monday to face charges related to vandalism at the city's airport in February.

Youcef Bennoui, 35, was charged with criminal damage and possession of a Part 1 poison. He did not attend West Kowloon Court on Monday.

Prosecutors informed the court that Bennoui, who said he was unemployed, had left Hong Kong. Principal Magistrate Don So Man-lung issued the warrant and reserved a decision on whether to forfeit the HK$5,000 bail.

The charges stem from an incident at Hong Kong International Airport in the early hours of February 16. A viral video showed Bennoui toppling self-check-in kiosks and striking them with a stanchion.
