Christopher Nolan responds to Odyssey casting criticism

Christopher Nolan has addressed online backlash over casting choices for his upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey, including criticism from Elon Musk and Matt Walsh. The director compared the reactions to those he faced during his Batman trilogy.

Nolan told The Telegraph that such discussions before a film's release are irrelevant since no one yet knows what the movie will be. He recalled spending a decade on Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, learning not to worry about external expectations.

The comments follow earlier criticism of Lupita Nyong’o’s casting as Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra, with Musk claiming it was done to win awards. Nyong’o responded that the story is mythological and the cast represents the world, adding she would not spend time on a defense.

Additional casting includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope and Tom Holland as Telemachus. Travis Scott and Elliot Page also appear in the film.
