Washington Commanders rookie linebacker Sonny Styles has cited late safety Sean Taylor as a key influence on his playing style and approach to the game.
Styles, a top draft pick, discussed his admiration for Taylor during an interview with CBS Sports. He recalled watching videos of Taylor's intense performances, including his Pro Bowl highlight from 2006.
Taylor, who played for the franchise after starring at Miami, started 13 games as a rookie in 2004 and earned a posthumous Pro Bowl selection in 2007. The Commanders retired his No. 21 in 2021.
Styles, son of former NFL player Lorenzo Styles Sr., won a national title at Ohio State in 2024. He said he is embracing the team's "BMF" identity under coach Dan Quinn while aiming to help Washington win its first Super Bowl since 1991.
