Daveed Diggs joins 'The Spot' cast with Danes and McGregor

Daveed Diggs has been cast in the upcoming Hulu and A24 drama series 'The Spot,' alongside leads Claire Danes and Ewan McGregor. The series follows a surgeon and her husband as they grapple with suspicions over a hit-and-run incident. It is currently in development with no release date announced.

Daveed Diggs, a Tony and Grammy Award winner recognized for his roles in 'Hamilton,' 'Blindspotting,' and 'Snowpiercer,' will star in 'The Spot,' a new drama series from Hulu and A24. He joins Claire Danes, who plays a successful surgeon, and Ewan McGregor, portraying her schoolteacher husband. The plot revolves around the couple's growing suspicion that the surgeon may have caused a child's death in a hit-and-run accident. This inquiry spirals into revelations of hidden secrets, straining their marriage and ethical limits.

The series is written, showrun, and executive produced by Ed Solomon, whose previous television work includes HBO Max's 'Full Circle.' A24 leads production in collaboration with 20th Television for Hulu. Additional executive producers are Robin Sweet and Ariel Kleiman, who will also direct. Character specifics for Diggs remain undisclosed.

This project marks a change in casting, as Danes replaced Kate Winslet earlier this year following creative differences. Winslet had been set to star and executive produce when the series earned a straight-to-series order in August 2024. Diggs's recent projects include the Oscar-nominated film 'Nickel Boys,' Gregg Araki's 'I Want Your Sex,' and Searchlight/Hulu's 'In the Blink of an Eye.'

'The Spot' is still in development, with production details and a premiere date pending.
