Novak Djokovic defeated Arthur Rinderknech 7-5, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 at Wimbledon to reach 105 main-draw wins at the tournament. The victory drew him level with Roger Federer on the all-time list. Djokovic then issued a light-hearted challenge to his former rival during the post-match press conference.
The match lasted three hours and one minute on Centre Court. Djokovic raced to a two-set lead before Rinderknech fought back to claim the third set and push the fourth to a tiebreak.
Djokovic regrouped to close out the contest and praised his opponent afterward. "It was also due to his quality. He’s very tall. He hit some incredible serves," he said.
In his press conference the Serbian proposed a match against Federer. "I propose a match up for me and Roger for 106. Whoever wins gets it," Djokovic stated.
Djokovic next faces Roman Safiullin. A victory would move him past Federer’s mark at the All-England Club.
