Marilyn Flores Castro and the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants – Dubai support 30 scholars through separate programs.
Marilyn Flores Castro, a former overseas Filipino worker who owns Pinas Group of Companies, started the Pinas Cargo Scholarship Program in 2018. It currently aids 25 students, with 22 studying in the Philippines, one each in the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, and Africa. Six scholars have graduated, including Jhimton Sasota, who completed computer engineering at Bicol University.
The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants – Dubai runs a separate effort for K-12 students. Five children receive support so far, with five more planned for 2026. Lyndon Magsino, the group’s founder and head, said selections rely on recommendations from barangay captains and school principals.
Castro stated she was a scholarship recipient herself and now aims to help others finish their studies. Magsino noted that members contribute to the fund to aid families facing financial hardship.
