Egypt strongly condemned an Iranian attack targeting Kuwait and Bahrain on Saturday, calling it a dangerous escalation that threatens Gulf security. The Foreign Ministry affirmed full support for the two nations.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as a blatant violation of the sovereignty of Kuwait and Bahrain. Cairo affirmed that Gulf security remains a fundamental pillar of Arab national security. The regional escalation follows US President Donald Trump stating on Friday that Iranian leaders have no choice but to reach an agreement ending the war with the United States. Speaking on NBC News’ “Meet the Press”, Trump said a deal could take years. He noted Iran had twice been very close to possessing a nuclear weapon. Iran has linked any diplomatic breakthrough to the release of $24bn in frozen assets, according to military adviser Mohsen Rezaei in comments to CNN.
