Egypt exports rise 21.1 percent to 5.1 billion dollars in April

Official data released today showed Egypt's exports rose 21.1 percent year-on-year to 5.1 billion dollars in April 2026.

According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics exports increased from 4.2 billion dollars in April 2025. Growth was driven by rises in petroleum products of 44.8 percent ready-made garments of 30 percent and fresh fruit of 62.6 percent.

Several commodities recorded declines including fertilisers which fell 58.4 percent and iron bars rods angles and wire which dropped 37.6 percent. Imports rose 20.7 percent to 9.9 billion dollars widening the trade deficit 20.2 percent to 4.8 billion dollars.

The agency noted that import growth was led by wheat copper and plastics in primary forms while petroleum products and passenger cars declined.
