Former parliamentarian Joaquín Lavín León faced a new formalization hearing on Wednesday for the use of SERVEL data on the SocialTazk platform.
The Fiscalía Metropolitana Oriente formalized the former deputy before the 7th Guarantee Court of Santiago for crimes related to the use and commercialization of electoral data. Lavín León, in preventive prison since May 8, was also charged with fraud against the treasury, forgery and malicious use of a private commercial instrument.
Prosecutor Constanza Encina explained that the complete electoral register was incorporated into the platform for commercial and electoral purposes. The Public Ministry estimates damages exceeding 177 million pesos.
Shigue Kazu Ogino Vargas and Belén Esperanza Carrasco Riquelme were also formalized for fraud against the treasury. Felipe Vásquez, in Spain, will face an extradition process requested by the Prosecutor's Office.
