Alberto Núñez Feijóo and Alejandro Fernández led the 16th PP Congress in Catalonia, where Fernández was reelected president with 97.51% of the votes and the party was presented as the alternative to nationalism and socialism.
At the congress held this Saturday in Barcelona, Feijóo called on the Catalan PP to secure 12 seats in Congress to become the key to removing Pedro Sánchez from La Moncloa. He criticized the prime minister for governing against the will of Congress and compared his stance to caudillismo unseen in Spain for 50 years.
Alejandro Fernández was reelected regional president and appointed Juan Fernández, former right-hand man of Xavier García Albiol in Badalona, as the new secretary general. Lorena Roldán, former Ciudadanos leader, will take over as spokesperson in the Parlament.
Fernández asked forgiveness from anyone he might have offended and called for party unity to lead from Catalonia the change Feijóo is driving in Spain. The new team respects the various factions of the Catalan PP.
