The government of Mexico City offers a fixed bimonthly fee of 68 pesos for the 2026 property tax to seniors, single mothers, and other vulnerable groups with properties valued up to 2.8 million pesos. For more expensive properties, a 30 percent discount applies. Early payments in January and February also qualify for 8 and 5 percent discounts.
Mexico City Head of Government Clara Brugada Molina has promoted a tax policy prioritizing vulnerable groups. For the 2026 fiscal year, a fixed bimonthly fee of 68 pesos applies to the property tax for people over 60 years old, heads of household (single, separated, divorced, or widowed mothers), individuals with permanent disabilities, pensioners and retirees due to work risks or invalidity, as well as orphaned pensioners and surviving spouses of the property owner.
This benefit is limited to residential properties with a cadastral value not exceeding 2 million 808 thousand 466 pesos. For properties above this value, vulnerable taxpayers receive a 30 percent discount on the total property tax amount.
For the general population, the Secretariat of Administration and Finance provides incentives for timely payment: an 8 percent discount in January for advance annual payment and 5 percent in February. Payments can be made at kiosks, banks, convenience stores, or online via the 'Tesorería CDMX' app and the department's website.
These measures aim to facilitate tax compliance and support family economies, especially amid uncertainty. Detailed information is available on the Secretariat of Administration and Finance portal.
