Former UCO chiefs contradict Mercedes González before judge

Two former UCO chiefs told judge Santiago Pedraz on Monday that they were instructed to stay on the sidelines in the probe into Pedro Sánchez's brother.

Rafael Yuste and Alfonso López Malo testified that deputy operational director Manuel Llamas told them in July 2024 to stay on the sidelines in the case and that the requested report should contain nothing relevant.

The generals also denied that Guardia Civil director Mercedes González informed them in a May 29 2025 meeting about her contacts with Leire Díez, contradicting González's Senate testimony last week.

Prosecutor Elena Lorente questioned them on these matters during the hearing at the Audiencia Nacional as part of the probe into possible pressure on the UCO.
