Goose announces sixth album Big Modern! and single Good2B

Indie jam band Goose has revealed details of its sixth studio album, Big Modern!, set for release on June 12 via No Coincidence Records. The announcement coincides with the debut of the lead single, Good2B. Guitarist and frontman Rick Mitarotonda described the track as a surrender to ecstasy amid chaos.

Goose unveiled Big Modern! following a promotional campaign marked by cryptic elements, including the website BigModern.com where visitors could send signals into an unknown ether. The band released a video featuring actor Jake Lacy, known from The White Lotus, portraying a record executive urging Goose to change its creative direction. In the video, Lacy's character says, “I’ve run it up the flagpole here, and it turns out, nobody wants to have a half-mast, C-tier, ham band wankin’ on their feelings for 20 minutes at a time the whole time. Who knew? Not you, obviously.” The rollout incorporated bright lemon yellow and hot pink hues, along with matching jumpsuits worn by the band members, whose sweaters spelled out “FACE.” Over the weekend, Goose appeared courtside at a Knicks-Bulls game at Madison Square Garden alongside Lacy, who remained in his executive attire. Rick Mitarotonda explained the single Good2B as “a sort of surrendering to an ecstasy in all of that chaos” and “a personal oasis in the algorithm.” He portrayed the album as an absurdist reflection of modern life's confusion, stating, “The overstimulating high-resolution world of content streaming directly into your brain, in real time, all the time... It’s awesome, and it’s terrifying.” Big Modern! follows Goose's 2025 releases Everything Must Go and Chain Yer Dragon. The band has scheduled extensive tours, starting April 10 in Asheville, North Carolina, and continuing through August.
